An Indian/ Danish manufacturer in Chennai wanted to construct a fully equipment commercial kitchen to cook for 250 employees in their premises. Being a Danish company, they wanted the LPG system to be according to EU standards for safety and quality. The commercial kitchen equipment vendor worked along with us for designing the centralized LPG pipeline and gas bank.
Requirements for LPG system:
Pipeline size: 150 Running Meter (Mild Steel, Seamless Pipe)
LOT System: 50 Kg LPG Vaporizer
Manifold Size: 5*2= 10 Cylinder capacity
Capacity: 4-Cooking ranges, 1-Conventional Oven and 1-Dosa Burner Range
Standards for LPG Pipeline System:
EN 1442 – LPG equipment and accessories – Transportable refillable welded steel cylinders for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) – Design and construction, European Committee for Standardisation
IS 1239 (Part 1) 1990: Mild steel tubes, tubulars and other wrought steel fittings: Part 1 Mild steel tubes
IS 6480 : 1988: Commercial equipment for LPG requirements
IS2148 : Flame Proof Electrical fittings as per regulation shall be used in the area segregated for Vaporizer installation.
On the Customer Side,
On the agency side,
As a LPG system installer, our team of technicians were provided with the designs for laying the MS pipes, the procurement was done during the covid lockdown, and we strategically planned to complete the LPG welding work within stipulated time. We ensured all the equipment were fixed as per installation guideline and ensure seamless operation.
The first step is to erect the VOT gas bank along with the 50 kg wall mount vaporizer. Vaporizer installed with the following technical details:
These are electrically heated Vaporizers with water as heat transfer media. The complete system is fully automatic and various interlocks and safeties are provided so that LPG vapor is produced to meet the demand and no liquid can flow downstream of the vaporizers. A fail safe device in the form of a float valve / level switch is provided to trap the liquid LPG. Vaporizers up to 500 kg/hr. will have a SS Coil placed internally in the hot water bath. The LPG enters the coil and is vaporized. As described above, the interlocks between the pressure switch, solenoid valve regulate the flow of liquid LPG to meet the demand. Our Vaporizer is designed with Maximum heat retention time. As a result, water bath heating is carried out most efficiently and power consumption is minimized.
An optional magnetically operated flameproof water level switch is immersed in the Water bath of the vaporizer. This switch is connected to the control panel & it ensures that the Water Level in the vaporizer does not go below the predetermined level. This avoids the accidental dry Heating by electrical heaters. As a result, water bath heating is carried out most efficiently and power consumption is minimized.
Flame Proof LPG solenoid valve is provided at the Liquid inlet of Vaporizer .It work automatically & not allow Liquid LPG to enter into SS coils under cold conditions i.e. when the temperature in the water chamber is below 55 C. The high level switch is connected to the solenoid valve via control panel. Whenever the liquid LPG reaches a predetermined level in the tubes the high level switch senses it & operates the solenoid valve & the liquid supply to the bath stops.
The client required a leak detector and fire suppression system in case any emergency of any leakage and fire to shut off the system automatically. We meticulously sourced the required leak detector system that is according to the client’s safety regulation and the system was integrated with the LPG line
After the welded pipeline is laid along with all the end point of ball valves and hydraulic hoses for the cooking ranges. The entire LPG line is checked with nitrogen gas for any leaks by connecting a nitrogen cylinder to the end line. Once the line is physically checked, the LPG vaporizer is turned on with the LPG cylinder and checked by holding a constant pressure of 30 psi for 4-5 hours. If there are no leaks in the line, the pressure is maintained. Thus, safe for commissioning and operation of the VOT LPG system.
Designing, installing, and commissioning the unique VOT system was a challenging task for a factory that is fully functional, but we were well trained to handle the task.
The client was able to start using the kitchen at the planned time, our team’s effort showed reliability, trust and safety to ensure long standing relationship and partnership with the client.
GAXTRA- LPG Pipeline Consultants we create and establish Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) pipelines manifold with necessary range fittings for commercial kitchens.
